How does this trek start and end?
Arrival and Acclimatization
Your journey begins with arrival in Paro, where you are welcomed and transferred to your hotel. The following day is dedicated to sightseeing and acclimatization, with a hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan’s most iconic cultural site.
Trekking Route
The trekking trail officially begins with a scenic drive to Shana, followed by a walk to Thongdu Zam. Over the next days, the trail climbs gradually through forests and valleys to Soi Thangthangkha, before reaching Jangothang Base Camp, where the majestic Jomolhari dominates the skyline. An acclimatization day here allows you to explore nearby ridges or lakes while adjusting to the altitude.
From Jangothang, you cross Nyile La Pass (4,870 m) to reach Lingshi and then continue to Yali La Pass (4,930 m), the highest point of the trek. These crossings provide stunning panoramic views and are among the most memorable highlights of the journey. Descending from the passes, you pass through remote valleys, alpine meadows, and forests until you reach Dolam Kencho, where the trek ends with a transfer to Thimphu.
Cultural Exploration
After completing the trek, a full day is spent in Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu, exploring highlights such as the Buddha Dordenma Statue, Tashichho Dzong, and local handicraft markets. The adventure concludes with a departure from Paro.
